proud of herself
Quite often I embroider while watching tv or while the kids play outside or wgile having my morning coffee. Nine times out of 10 I have my embroidery with me when going to people's houses, to lunch to a meeting. The only times I am without is when I feel my company might be insulted by my multitasking. peanut must have noticed all the embroidery because last night when I settled down to work she climed up on my lap and promptly began taking the needle up and down through the fabric for me. I would place it in the right spot, get it started and she would push or pull the needle through happily declaring "I did it Mamma!" after each turn.
It swelled my heart, both at hearing her sweet voice say those words (her vocab has exploded lately) and at the fact that my little girl, barely even two years old, helped me make something and is clearly proud of her work. I've hoped that she would want to create with me, but never did I think the interest would be now. She climbed to my lap again this morning and this afternoon to continue her craftiness, my interest in the "help" waning long before hers. I'm trying to be extra patient and enjoy the time since I know it is probably fleeting.
The longer we do this together the more she wants to put the needle where she wants it. I'm thinking that soon there will be Peanut-led embroideries to show you all. I can only imagine how proud she will be of herself then!

Oooh.. You need to get her "sewing cards". Did you have those? Where you sew through the holes punched around a picture with the yarn wrapped in scotch tape? She's a natural!

My daughter is about the same age as yours (2 on 8/10) and she just started doing this yesterday. Very cute, except she would pull the needle too far so the thread would come off pretty much every time. A very good test of my patience, but also an awesome memory of crafting with my babe.

That's so great that you are being so patient with her. It's so easy to just say "no, this is mommy's project.", which I confess comes out of my mouth much too often.
