My wife is pretty trusting to give me the opportunity to blog on her behalf today. This morning, she got her throat hacked up and had her tonsils removed (of which the Doctor said were big and nasty). That is phase one of this weight loss program - getting parts of your body cut out and thrown away.
Phase two will come over the next several days since she will only be able to drink liquids and eat soft foods. However, earlier today she was able to eat two bowls of rice (which is something I normally would only get excited about for our two year old).
The picture here is of the bandage left from the IV they put into her for the surgery. She has had bad experiences in the past during child birth with IVs. Normally, it would take "the best nurse in the hospital" several attempts (i.e. vicious jabs of a needle) into her arms to successfully get the IV working. Today, however, her nurse got it in one try! This immediately qualified her to be included in our will.
Everything went very well today, she was in and out in about 3 hours and is resting comfortably at home with the assistance of Mr. Vicodin.
We're very blessed to have generous family and friends (including a boss who let's me take time off) who are helping with the kids and providing tons of food for me and the kids to eat.
Lest anyone get overwhelmed with sympathy for Claire, my turn is next week. Since we've both been so sick with throat infections lately, I also won the tonsillectomy lottery. Woohoo!
