Seriously.
I hate making sugar cookies. I hate mixing them up and then having to throw them in the fridge and waiting for them to harden a bit so I can roll them out. I hate rolling them out. I hate that they get sticky sometimes and have to go back in the fridge. I also equally hate store bought cookie dough because it tastes gross.
So when I read in a magazine somewhere that rolling out pie crusts and baking and decorating those is just as fun and yummy and (my favorite part) less time consuming than the no-fun version, well I had to try it. And it was fun. Because I didn't invest time and energy and aggravation into making dough from scratch, I had no qualms about handing over the pie dough to the kids to cut out and decorate and play with.
The greatness comes when I tell you what I did with my crust. I unrolled it and spread apple cider butter all over it and sprinkled cinnamon and sugar on it, then rolled it back up and cut little spirals from it. YUM.
I just had to tell you all about it, because I am just that nice.
